MODEL DRIVERS PREPARE FOR PINEY LASKY MEMORIAL 200
Jennerstown, Pa.-(May 19,
1999)- Honoring the memory of the late Piney
Lasky has become a tradition at Jennerstown Speedway.
For the third straight year Kennametal will sponsor the
"Piney Lasky Memorial 200" for local NASCAR Winston
Racing Series NAPA Auto Parts Late Model drivers on May
29th.
Late Model drivers will compote for a purse expected to
exceed $25,000. First place will take home $4,000 in
prize money, and every car starting the race will be
paid at least $400.
At least 25 teams are expected to race for the coveted
victory. The first 12 starting positions will be taken
from the 12 fastest teams in time trials, The final
spots will be determined through heats and a last-chance
race.
The "Piney Lasky Memorial 200" will be broken down into
two 100-lap segments. Following the first 100 laps,
drivers will be given five minutes to refuel, change
tires and make any necessary adjustments to their race
cars.
"Rapid" Robert Arsenberger of Mill Run, Pa., looks to
"3-peat," after winning the inaugural race in 1997 and
winning again in last year's event from his 14th
starting position. Snooky Williams, driver of the
Kennametal-sponsored Late Model,finished third last year
and hopes to win his sponsor's race this year.
"I finished third last year in the Kennametal 200,"
Williams said. "There will be a lot of fans and a lot of
people representing Kennametal at the track. It would be
an honor to win the race for my sponsor and to honor
Piney's memory."
Jeff Dunmyer of Friedens, Pa. came home second in last
year's "Piney Lasky Memorial 200," followed by Williams,
Richard Mitchell of Bruceton Mills, W.Va. and Dave Houpt
of Somerset, Pa.
In addition to the "Piney Lasky Memorial 200," Giant
Eagle Pro Trucks will compete in a 50 lap feature
presented by IRWIN RV. PA Legacy cars are also scheduled
to race 20 laps and Chargers are set for a 12-lap event.
Spectator gates will open at 4:00 p.m., with Late Model
time trials scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Order
tickets in advance now and SAVE. Advanced ticket orders
are now being taken for only $15, or pay $20 at the
gate.
