Attack Helicopter To Be Displayed At Jennerstown
Jennerstown,
Pa.-(Aug. 2, 1999)-A typical night at
Jennerstown Speedway provides area NASCAR fans a
full night of Super Six Racing, with race cars
turning laps at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
Saturday, August 7th, 100 miles per hour will seem
like a 5 o'clock traffic stand-still when three or
four U.S. Army helicopters, capable of flying level
at 150 Knots, will participate in a fly by. Plus, to
give fans a closer look, one AH-1 Cobra will be
displayed on the track's grounds.
Battalion Commander
LTC Dan A. Berkebile of Johnstown, Pa., will head
the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's fly-over and
display at the speedway during Somerset Hospital's
presentation of Super Six Racing.
The AH-1 Cobra has
a federal mission to destroy enemy armored,
mechanized, and other massed forces through the use
of aerial firepower, mobility and shock effect.
"Not many civilians
ever have the chance to see a piece of equipment of
this magnitude," Speedway General Manager Bob Duvall
said. "The fly-over and display will definitely add
to Somerset Hospital's Super Six Racing program."
A full night of
Super Six racing is scheduled for Saturday night.
Five NASCAR Winston Racing Series divisions will
race, including NAPA Auto Parts Late Models, Giant
Eagle Pro Trucks, G.A. Modifieds, Street Stocks and
Chargers. The PA Legacy Series will also race a
25-lap feature. Adult tickets are only $7.50, and
children 12 and under enter FREE. Gates will open at
4:30 p.m., and Snyder's of Berlin will present a
FREE bag of cheese popcorn to the first 2000
spectator to enter the gates.
Advanced tickets
are also now available for the NAPA Auto Parts ISMA
Super Modified 100 on August 14th. Two-time NASCAR
Craftsman Truck champion Ron Hornaday will also
compete in NAPA Late Model competition that evening.
