Jennerstown Speedway Announces First Annual Fall Fest
Nationals
Jennerstown,
Pa.-(Aug. 18, 1999)-The first Annual Fall
Fest Nationals have been scheduled for September
18th at Jennerstown Speedway.
Due to the success
of the first Annual Tire Squealin' Nationals in
July, speedway management has set a fall date to
allow race enthusiasts another shot at enduro and
spectator drag racing.
"We have had such a
great turn out for the Tire Squealin' Nationals,"
Speedway Promoter Stan Lasky said. "The phones have
not stopped ringing with requests for a second date
to be added. We look forward to hosting the Fall
Fest in September."
Spectator drag
competitors can pull their cars, trucks, SUVs or
vans straight off the road onto the half-mile oval
for a one-on-one drag race. Competitors will start
from a stand-still, and the first vehicle back to
the start/finish moves on. Both classes will declare
a winner. First place in each class will be awarded
$150, runner-ups take home $50 and third places
receive $20.
Brad McCoy of
Somerset took the $150 first prize in his black
Mitsubishi Eclipse in July's Tire Squealin'
National spectator drag car division. The Ford
Ranger of Jim Gordon eliminated the truck/van/SUV
competition, also taking home $150.
The
second feature planned for the Fall Fest is a
four-cylinder, non-turbocharged, front-wheel drive
enduro race. Back in July, 43 teams towed enduro-style
race cars to Jennerstown, looking to take home the
$300 first-place cash prize. Two hundred dollars
have been added to the first-place prize, bringing
the total winnings for the winner to $500. Second
will take home $300, and third will pocket $100.
Race fans witnessed four-wide racing and countless
spins, as the amateur racers battled for the enduro
win in July. Sixteen-year-old Mike Hay of Somerset
survived the 100-lap event and drove to the victory
in his 1984 Plymouth Horizon.
Entry fees are ONLY $10 for competitors. Pit gates
open at 3 p.m., and main gates will open at 4:30
p.m. Races are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is only $10 for a pit pass, $5 for the
grandstands and children 12 and under are FREE.
Additional rules and restrictions apply. This is a
non-NASCAR sanctioned event. Call the speedway
office for an official entry and copy of all rules
at (814)629-6677.
