Injuries Prove Fatal For ISMA Driver At Jennerstown
Jennerstown, Pa.-(Aug. 14, 1999)-
Randy Witkum, 25, of Westford, Mass., succumbed to
injuries suffered in an ISMA-sanctioned
Supermodified heat race Saturday, August 14th at
Jennerstown Speedway.
During the qualifying heat, Witkum's winged
open-wheeled supermodified was involved in a
multi-car accident. His supermodified accelerated
along the frontstretch then made hard contact with
the outside turn-one wall. Witkum's car shot across
a track opening, impacting the outside barrier.
Witkum was life-flighted to Conemaugh Trauma Center
in Johnstown, Pa. where he was pronounced dead.
Details regarding a Memorial Service have yet to be
announced. Information will be forthcoming.
