August 21, 1999

The PA Legacy Series provided the race fans at Jennerstown Speedway an exciting evening of racing.  The heat race was won by Mike Smith of Akron, OH.  Three wide racing was the standard early in the event with several of the front runners starting in the back of the field.

When the green flag dropped for the 25 lap feature event, several cars got together in turn 1 with Bill Miller retiring to the pits early with suspension damage.  When racing resumed, Mike Hemphill took off to an early lead until mechanical trouble sent him to the pits on lap 9.  Mike Smith then took over the lead with Jayme Bolkovac chasing him for the top position.  While battling with George Stockman, Rick Boyer was tagged from behind and spun, which sent both him and Stockman to the rear.  With only 8 laps remaining, both Boyer and Stockman moved thru the field and into 4th and 5th places.   The best battle was between Ed Boyer and his son Rick Boyer for 3rd place.  Ed Boyer was able to hold off Rick and finish in 3rd.

The PA Legacy Series will be at Jennerstown Speedway next Saturday night, August 28, 1999, for a rained out feature event form August 14, 1999.
