Stefanik Sweeps NASCAR Events At Jennerstown

Jennerstown - (August 22, 1998) - Mike Stefanik made it two wins in as many appearances at the Jennerstown Speedway, as he worked his magic once again in the NASCAR Busch Grand National North Series "Burnham Boilers 150" Saturday night.  Stefanik also captured the Featherlite Modified touring race here in June.
From the start of the event it was Busch Pole winner Dave Dion who paced the entire first half of the event, until he decided to pit for fresh rubber during a caution period.  Brad Leighton held the second spot for the 50 laps, before cautions allowed the rest of the lead pack to also pit for service.  After the halfway point it was Stefanik who made his move towards the front, as he picked off one position after another.  Stefanik then took over the lead position on lap 89 from Brad Bennett after another race restart, and would not be headed again for the remainder of the race.  Brad Leighton also raced back through the field, and challenged for the lead but had to settle for the second spot, Dave Dion, Mike Olson, and Denny Doyle all rebounded from mid race pit stops to finish out the top five in an action packed race to the checkered flag.
In the Chevrolet Late Model feature it was Brad Smales who captured his first division feature win after leading throughout the entire event.  He faced very heavy pressure from a number of competitors, including Robert Arsenberger in the latter stages.  Richard Mitchell and Mark Cottone battled for third and fourth to the finish line, as Barry Awtey followed close behind for fifth.
The Money Store Street Stock race was another one that came down to the wire, as Doug Shaulis climbed his way through the field once again, with Mel Wilt remaining in the top five throughout the event and finished in the second spot.  Dave Marrow finished in third, with Wade Champeno and Roger Onstead crossing the line side by side for fourth and fifth.
Josh Coughenour was the class of the field in the Giant Eagle Pro/Stock Truck division as he paced the entire field to the finish line.  He received a great deal of pressure from Shawn Beam towards the finish, but held his ground to keep Beam in second, Aaron Will came home in third, while Nick Rosa and George Englert rounded out the top five.
The NAPA Auto Parts Grand American Modified race saw a first time winner as Ken Skomo captured his first win in the division, in one of the tightest five car battles to the checkered flag of the season.  The first five cars finished nose to tail with Dave Brunell, Tom Knight Jr., Matt Smith, and Mark Flick collecting their positions.
Mike Smith has shown over the 1998 season that he is the class of the field, as he checkered out on the rest of the field in the second half of the event for yet another win.  Mark Poole drove a strong race to finish in second, with Rick Boyer coming home in third.  George Stockman and Ryan Hemphill raced hard to close out the top five.
In the Days Inn Charger feature it was Mike Griffith and Carl McCurdy putting on a great four car battle with Jason Lasky and early race leader Craig Stoner, Griffith took home the win, with McCurdy in second, Lasky in third and Stoner finishing in fourth.  Joe Ruskey closed up in the final laps to finish in fifth.
