Tom Knight Jr. Doubles Up At Jennerstown

Jennerstown, PA (August 1, 1998)-Tom Knight Jr.  captured both the 25 lap feature event, and the 10 lap 'Dash for Cash' sponsored by Die-Tech Manufacturing, to pull off the elusive double win in the NAPA Grand American Modified division action at Jennerstown Speedway during Somerset Hospital race night.
Knight started off the evening by taking the feature win, after fighting a hard battle with Marion Reno Jr. throughout the second half of the race.  Reno held on to second, with Dave Brunell, Richard Stiffler, and Matt Smith finishing in third through fifth under a blanket.
In the Die-Tech 'Dash for Cash' a multi-car crash on the initial start allowed Knight to move up five spots due to wrecked cars.  Knight was challenged by Mark Flick in the closing laps, but held on for the dash win, collecting a cool $500 dollars for his efforts.  Flick finished in second, with Ralph McBride, Marion Reno Jr. and Ken Skomo rounding out the top five.
In Chevrolet Late Model division action it was Robert Arsenberger returning to victory lane, after a long, two month dry spell.  He sliced his way through the field like a surgeon, and took over the lead from Mark Smith near the halfway point of the 50 lap race.  Rich Mitchell and Jeff Dunmyer also got by Smith and finished the race in second and third respectively.  Smith maintained the fourth position, while Dave Houpt fought an ill handling race car to finish in fifth place.
The Money Store Street Stock feature was a real barn burner as cars were exchanging positions faster than you could blink your eyes.  Mark Blohm held the early lead, but Dave Morrow was the class of the field this night as he maneuvered his way to the front, and went on to capture his second win of the season.  Blohm finished in second, while Roger Onstead came home in third.  Billy Mostoller and Wade Champeno raced side-by-side to the finish to capture fourth and fifth.
The Giant Eagle Pro Stock/Truck feature was the scene of yet another multi car/truck crash at the start which eliminated two competitors.  On the restart it was last weeks winner Shawn 'The Bullet' Beam who took over the lead position.  He then had to hold off the hard charging Josh Coughenour, who recovered from the earlier crash and raged through the field to a very competitive second place finish.  Aaron Will had a very good run to finish in third place, with Todd Price and Scott Coughenour rounding out the top five.
In the Days Inn Charger division it was Jason Lasky picking up right where he left off two weeks ago with another win.  His time off for summer vacation did not effect his driving style as he once again came from the back of the pack to take the checkered flag.  Carl McCurdy closed the distance and finished in second place, with Mike Griffith coming home in third.  Dick Smith made an impressive debut with a fourth place run,  while Sam King crossed the finish line glued to Smith's bumper for fifth.
The Irwin RV Legacy Car event was the best of the season as Mike Smith and Rick Boyer waged a two car, side-by-side battle for the lead, which lasted for 23 of the 25-lap race.  The two were inseparable and Smith finally made the winning move to capture the win.  Boyer finished second, with Mark Poole, Robbie Young, and Mark Westrick coming home in third through fifth.
