Jennerstown
Speedway Honoring Tradition With 31st Annual Laurel Highlands
Event
Jennerstown, PA (July 12)- Jennerstown
Speedway will continue to carry on one of the richest traditions
in Pennsylvania motorsports history, by presenting their 31st
annual Laurel Highlands Event on Saturday July 18th. This event
was established by Piney and Clara Lasky in 1967, the year in
which they began their ownership of the Speedway, as a way to
pay tribute to the sport of auto racing. Over the past 31 years
the Laurel Highlands Event has continued to blossom and grow
into what has now become the biggest annual racing event in
Southwestern Pennsylvania, and has played host to some of the
most well known dirt and asphalt racing stars in the country.
This years event will once again provide stock car fans with a
racing program that is second to none.
To begin with, four of the NASCAR Winston Racing Series top
divisions will be racing double their normal feature event
distance, highlighted by the Chevrolet Late Model divisions 100
lap race. There will also be an additional amount of pressure
placed on these drivers and teams with the awarding of double
points for this single feature event.
The Giant Eagle Pro Stock/Trucks and NAPA Grand American
Modified divisions will each host their longest races of the
season with 50 laps of action, while The Money Store Street
Stocks will race a scheduled 40 lap feature event.
The Days Inn Chargers and Irwin RV Legacy Cars will also be
in action to make this a night of racing that fans will never
forget. Winning drivers never forget the special feeling of
wearing the now famous cowboy hat once worn by Piney Lasky, a
Laurel Highlands Event victory lane celebration that continues
on today in his memory.
"We are proud to carry on this rich racing tradition by
presenting the 31st annual Laurel Highlands Event as a way to
celebrate our past, while looking forward to our future," said
Speedway General Manager Robert Duvall, "Over the past 31 years
the Jennerstown Speedway has become one of the most recognizable
landmarks within the Laurel Highlands region. Not only for
providing some of the most exciting stock car racing action to
be found in all of the Keystone state, but also for developing
into a family favorite tourism destination that has helped to
enrich the entire community," he said.
Consider this your personal invitation to come and be a part
of the growing number of NASCAR Winston Racing Series fans who
have discovered what racing excitement is all about. Advance
ticket purchases and additional information are available by
