ASA Returns to Jennerstown Speedway
Jennerstown, PA - The 17th stop on the 1998 ASA ACDelco
Challenge Series, the Pontiac Excitement 400 presented
by the Keystone Country Pontiac Dealers, is set to begin
Sunday September 13, 1 p.m. (Eastern) from Jennerstown
Speedway.
In each of the last five visits ASA has made to
Jennerstown Speedway, it was eventual winner of the 1997
Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year award Steve
Carlson won the rain-shortened 400-lap race on September
28, 1997. Carlson is not competing on full-rime basis in
1998, so it will likely mark the sixth- consecutive race
with a different winner when ASA visits there on
September 13.
Activities at the track for the 1998 weekend will begin
on Saturday, September 12, with a two-hour practice
session beginning at 11 a.m. (Eastern). Qualifying is
set for 3 p.m. and will be followed by a 30-minute
'Happy Hour" practice session scheduled for 4 p.m.
An on-track fan autograph session is scheduled for
Sunday, September 13, beginning at 11 a.m., with the
Pontiac Excitement 400 slated to start at 1 p.m.
Following Carlson under the checkers of the race which
was shortened to 290 laps last fall were, Ted Smokstad
and Scott Hansen.
Mike Eddy leads the rally of ASA victories and podium
finishes at Jennerstown, with four and fellow Michigan
driver Bob Senneker has earned three wins. In all, seven
different drivers have earned at least one victory in
ASA competition at Jennerstown. Eddy and Senneker are
the only multiple event winners there. The other drivers
to have won ASA races at Jennerstown are, Tom Jones,
Glenn Alien Jr., Tony Raines and Carlson.

the Pontiac Excitement 400 are available by calling
