JENNERSTOWN, PA (August 18)…Although it was hardly 50 degrees out, things were hot at Jennerstown Speedway as the Super Late Model feature was a test of fate for the 40 lap race. Kyle Martel driving the Finish Line Express #59, made it back to victory lane for his second time this season, his first win coming on June 2^nd, the second race of the 2007 season.

            During practice, things did not look to hot for the 59 team as Kyle came into the pits with nothing to say but negative feelings towards how the car handled. A win was the last thing on their minds after their unsuccessful practice runs. Martel, starting 5^th was able to fight his way to the front of the 18 car pack early in the race to take the lead from the #5H of Matt Howsare by lap 14.

            It was a grueling battle as the #07 of Jason Mignogna was on the tail of Martel fighting back and forth with him for the leading position to get through the traffic to pass the 5H to take the second position. Yet, it wasn’t long before Kyle was able to pull away from the 07 and the rest of the field. By lap 24, Martel had a half track lead over the 07 of Mignogna in the second position. The last thing that Martel wanted to see was a caution, yet on lap 24 a 3 car pile up on the front stretch involving the #55 of Matt Barndt and the #82 of Jason Lasky.

            On the restart the 59 was able to maintain the lead with the 07 starting by his side and the #75 of Barry Awtey behind him. A second caution came out only one lap later when the #95 of Garry Wiltrout and the #96 of Mark Poole spun on going into Turn 4. From the restart on, Awety and Martel went back and forth until the wave of the checkered when the 59 took the victory.

            In the Somerset Trust Company Street Stock division the #3 of Teddy Gibala who started second took the lead from the #51 of Dave Manns on the first lap only to hold off the rest of the 13 car field to make his first trip to victory lane this season. The current points leader of Adam Kostelnik fought his way from starting 8^th to take second at the wave of the checkered.

            It was yet another victory for the current Budweiser Hobby Stock points leader the #23 of Eugene Zerfoss followed by the #27 of Steve Long, second in points.   

            On Saturday, Jennerstown hosted the Modifieds for their 3^rd time this season. In the modified feature race it was a clean sweep for the #60 of Adam Kostelnik who took the victory in the 20 lap feature race. During heat laps, the #9 of Rick Huffman and the #40 Bryan Shipp collided on the back stretch sending the #40 of Bryan Shipp over the inside wall. Both drivers were not injured in the accident but each was unable to start in the feature race.
