DOUG LONG BEATS RAIN AT JENNERSTOWN

JENNERSTOWN, PA (June 3) … Doug Long beat the rain and 16 other drivers Saturday evening at Jennerstown Speedway to win the 15-lap Highland Harley-Davidson sponsored hobby stock feature event in a rain abbreviated NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program.

The Portage driver started fifth in the field, and chased down early pacesetter Eugene Zerfoss on Lap 6 to move into the lead. From there Long, who was only driving in his third race on the half-mile asphalt Jennerstown oval, cruised to his first victory of the season.

Zerfoss managed to hang on for second, followed by Deidre Petrie, and former feature winners Scott McCall and John Steeley.

Feature events for the Courtesy Suzuki super late models, WJAC-TV late models and the Advance Auto Parts street stocks were cancelled due to a lingering rain storm.

The Somerset County speed plant will be in action twice next weekend, presenting a Night of Fire thrill show on Friday June 9, and Faster Pastor II, featuring area clergy members, on Sat. June 10.
