PERLEY
VICTORIOUS IN JENNERSTOWN ISMA TWIN 30 FEATURES
JENNERSTOWN, PA (July 8) … Chris Perley, the ‘Rowley (Mass.) Rocket’,
swept both ends of the Wheeler Bros. twin 30-lap features in
International Super Modified Association action Saturday evening at the
half-mile paved Jennerstown Speedway.
Perley, a
two-time Jennerstown winner, and track record holder, started ninth in
the first feature, and proceeded to chase down early pacesetter Bobby
Magner on the eighth lap to take the lead.
“We’ve
got good cars and great engines,” Perley said from victory lane, “This
has been our bad luck car, but I think we finally shook the monkey off
our back tonight..”
Once in
the lead Perley ran away from the pack to win by a large margin. Magner
finished second, followed by Lou Ciocconi, Kyle Carpenter and Mike
Lichty.
Perley
duplicated his feat in the nightcap, chasing down Justin Belfiore to
take the fron spot on lap 18 after starting 12th on the
field.. Perley again outdistanced the field, leading Belfiore,
Carpenter, Cicconi and Scott Martel to the checkered flag.
“All we
changed between races was a right rear tire, and we destroyed it in the
second race too,” said Perley
In NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series action Lebanon driver Kyle Martel won his second
Courtesy Suzuki 40-lap super late feature event of the season in
convincing fashion, winning by a full straightaway over Somerset’s Garry
Wiltrout, who recorded his best finish of the 2006 campaign.
Point
leader Mark Poole fished third, trailed by Jason Mignogna and last
week’s winner, Mark Smith.
Dusty
Rhoads nailed down his fourth WJAC-TV late model win after inheriting
command when early leader Snooky Williams fell out of the event with
overheating problems. Mel Wilt was second, in front of Chris Brink,
Andrew Wylie and Dink Colarusso.
Adam
Kostelnik made it five in a row by winning the 20-lap Advance Auto Parts
main event. Roger Onstead, Phil Grubbs, George Nicola and Todd Knight
chased the East McKeesport driver across the line.
Fifteen
year old Teddy Gibala drove a flawless race to capture his first
ever victory the hobby stock finale. Scott McCall was second, while
Steve Long, John Steeley and Deidre Petrie rounded out the top-five.
