WILTROUT ‘TRUCKS’ TO BIG WIN AT JENNERSTOWN

JENNERSTOWN, PA (July 15)…Somerset driver Garry Wiltrout was hotter than the three jet-powered vehicles featured in the ‘Truckin Thunder’ presentation, as he became the fifth different winner in Courtesy Suzuki super late model action Saturday evening at Jennerstown Speedway, racing to a hard earned victory in NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action on the half-mile paved Somerset County oval.

“This win changes the whole momentum for our team,” Wiltrout said following the event. “I was ready to give up earlier in the year, but my car owner and crew kept plugging away to make the car better. Sitting in Victory Lane is what it is all about.”

Wiltrout started third in the field and quickly moved to the top spot on Lap 2. He surrendered the lead to Barry Awtey two laps later, but was able to regain command for good  on the 19th circuit.

Awtey was able to keep Wiltrout in his sights to finish second, ahead of current point leader Mark Poole, Mark Smith and Bobby Henry. Jason Mignogna, Mark Cottone, Todd Goble, Jason Lasky and Greg Kelley rounded out the top-10.

A vicious four-car accident on the front straight involving Jeff Dunmyer, Kyle Martel, Rick Boyer and Todd Price brought out the red flag. Dunmyer climbed on top of Martel and flipped his Charlie Beam owned machine at the start/finish line. No one was injured in the melee.

Dusty Rhoads zipped past Wade Champeno with three laps remaining in the 25-lap WJAC-TV late model feature to annex his fifth win of the campaign. Champeno settled for second place in front of Andrew Wylie, Mel Wilt and Chris Brink.

Unstoppable is the word to describe Adam Kostelnik in the Advance Auto Parts street stock class, as he drove to his sixth consecutive triumph over Todd Knight, George Nicola, Phil Grubbs, and Jason Holder. Bobby Young rolled his mount in turn three early in the contest, but was able to walk away unscathed.

Angelo Codispoti drove past Matt Sever on Lap 10 in the hobby stock finale to pick-up his first every victory. Sever hung on for second, while Scott McCall, Eugene Zerfoss and last weeks feature winner Teddy Gibala finished third through fifth.

Chris Gilson of Wellsboro swept both ends of the twin super mini cup ferature events.
