TOP NASCAR DRIVERS INVADE JENNERSTOWN THIS SATURDAY

JENNERSTOWN, PA (Aug. 9) …Dale Earnhardt Jr., Greg Biffle, and Martin Truex Jr, three top-20 ranked NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers, will be appearing at Jennerstown Speedway this Saturday evening for the running of the 2006 ‘Race of Champions’ (RoC).

Leading the pack will be Earnhardt Jr., who has been voted NASCAR’s most popular driver for three consecutive years. Earnhardt is currently ranked 10th in points, which puts him in position to contend for the coveted ‘Chase For The Nextel Cup Championship.” Although he is not permitted to drive in the Jennerstown event, Earnhardt will be serving as the flagman for the race.

Biffle, who was the winningest driver on the Nextel Cup tour in 2005, currently sits in the 12th position, but still is in contention for one of the Chase slots. Biffle finished second in the Chase last year behind Tony Stewart, missing the title by only 35-points.

 Nextel Cup rookie Truex  Jr. has moved up to 20th spot  in the rankings after a sluggish performance during the first half of the season. A team mate to Earnhardt Jr. on the powerful Dale Earnhardt Inc.race team, Truex was the 2004-2005 champion in the NASCAR BUSCH Series.

Joining the above three drivers will be Kenny Wallace, who is running 10th in the competitive BUSCH Series point race, and veteran Ken Schrader, the ninth place finisher in this year’s Daytona 500.

All five drivers will participate in a pre-race autograph session. Each driver will sign 500 autographs, which will be determined by a lottery utilizing the track souvenir program.

Joining the RoC that night will be a 100-lap Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Racing Alliance (MAARA) championship event for super late models. Drivers from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Canada will be on hand to contest round three of the MAARA championship series. Glenn Gault Jr. of Hubbard, Oh is the current MAARA point leader, trailed closely by Rick Miller, Mark Bliss, Pete Vanderwyst, and T.J. Johnson.

Also on the race card will be a ‘feature only’ format for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series late models, and street stocks, as well as the hobby stocks and mini-cup cars.

A limited number of advance $30.00 discount tickets are still available through Thursday, Aug. 10 on-line at www.jennerstown.com, or by calling 1-888 695-0888. All seats are reserved. Tickets on the day of the event will be $40.00.

Parking lots open at 8:00 am, with spectators admitted at 11:00 am.  An on-track autograph session will take place at 6:00 pm, followed by the first race at 7:00.

This event will be held ‘rain or shine’. In the event the racing portion of the event is cancelled fans will be issued a rain check for a future Jennerstown racing event.
