KOSTELNIK SET FOR
JENNERSTOWN MODIFIED INVITE
JENNERSTOWN, PA (July
29) … Adam Kostelnik will be pulling double duty this Saturday evening
at Jennerstown Speedway, as the Somerset County half-mile asphalt speed
emporium presents a Labor Night Fan Appreciation special attraction.
|
Kostelnik, an
eight-time feature winner, and the current point leader in the Advance
Auto Parts street stock division, will also be one of the drivers to
beat in the special 25-lap modified invite that has been added to this
weeks race card.
The East McKeesport
driver currently is leading the modified class at the Motordrome
Speedway (Smithton), which features the open-wheel machines every Friday
evening.
“We are looking
forward to racing the modified at Jennerstown,” said Kostelnik, who was
victorious in last year’s modified special at the Laurel Highlands oval.

“Racing the modified
is totally different from driving the street stock,” he said. “the
modified is a much lighter car, and it handles much better than our
street stock. I’m hoping to pick up wins in both classes, but I’ll have
to remind myself which car I am driving at the time.”
Another driver
expected to be in the thick of the modified action is Tom Knight Jr.
Knight was a big winner when the modified class competed regularly at
Jennerstown, and is anxious to make his return.
“We haven’t competed
much this season,” commented Knight, “but Jennerstown was always my
favorite track, and I would like to pick up a checkered flag.”
Joining the modifieds
will be the WJAC-TV late models, Advance Auto Parts street stocks and
the hobby stocks. The super mini-cup class will also be making their
final appearance of the 2006 season.
General admission will
only be $4.00 for all seats. Free admission will be granted to anyone
presenting a valid union card.
Gates open at 5:00 pm,
with the first race set to begin at 6:00.

NOTES
The Courtesy Suzuki
super late model division will not be in competition Sat., Aug.2 due to
the running of Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Racing Alliance (MAARA) Budweiser
100 at the Holland (New York) Speedway…
Super late model
competitor Jason Lasky has been forced to miss the last two race meets

a loss of hearing in one ear…
Through a mutual
decision between Jennerstown Speedway and ASA Late Model Series
officials, the originally scheduled ASA North Series 100 on Sept. 16 has
been cancelled. The Courtesy Suzuki super late model division will

classes…
Jennerstown Speedway
has announced that the Courtesy Suzuki super late model and WJAC-TV late
model divisions will be combined into a single class for the 2007
season. “With the successful integration of the economic crate engine
program into the super late model class this year, the necessity of
running a separate class for those engines is no longer necessary,” said
track owner Dave Wheeler. Late model competitors will be able to use
their current cars and will only need to make a minimal upgrade to
engines currently in use. Low cost crate engines have won seven of the
11 super late model races contested thus far in 2006…
Mike Milliron has left
his position of marketing director and on-track announcer at the
speedway. General Manager Larry Mattingly will be handling both duties
