Team Release

McFarland stays sharp during long break, team ready for
Lakeland
Mooresville, NC- When racing gets in your blood, courses
through your veins and sets up shop in your soul it is
hard to just turn it off for three weeks.
It's safe to say that when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup
Series Southern Division heads back to USA International
Speedway for the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by
Advance Discount Auto Parts on Saturday night, Mark
McFarland and his WINFUEL Chevrolet will both be
chomping at the bit.
While it has been one month since the last Southern
Division race, McFarland has been keeping busy, when the
weather has cooperated. The JR Motorsports crew
attempted to qualify for their first Northern Division
race at Jennerstown Speedway this past weekend, but rain
washed out the tail end of qualifying meaning the team
had to watch from the sidelines. They also broke out a
brand-new Townsend Racing late model stock car during
the hiatus.
"We ran our late model (stock car) a couple of times at
Motor Mile Speedway during the break and had a blast,"
said McFarland. "Jennerstown was a bummer because we
were fastest in practice. I got a little loose in
qualifying; we only got one lap to try to get qualifying
in before the rain came. Unfortunately it came four cars
too soon and we had to watch."
The team has had this Lakeland race circled in their
minds because they think they have an excellent shot to
build not only on their recent success, but also on the
great run they had going here during the season opener.
They qualified third and led seven laps before motor
problems relegated them to a 27th-place finish.
"We were very happy to be as fast as we were at Lakeland
for the first race. Now we are going back armed with
some actual race information and even though we fell out
early of the season opener, we feel better prepared for
our second shot at the track," sounded McFarland.
A new paint scheme will also adorn the No. 32 WINFUEL
Chevrolet for this weekend's race.
"We'll have the black and blue colors of the WINFUEL
Men's formula on the car. I think the fans will like it,
it's a very cool looking car and really stands out on
the track," said McFarland.
The broadcast of the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by
Advance Discount Auto Parts can be seen on June 11 at 10
p.m. on the Speed Channel.
