HOOTERS Series invades jennerstown may 28
JENNERSTOWN, PA (May 18, 2005) … The
United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooters ProCup North Series,
which has become America’s premier short-track stock car tour in
less than five years, will make its first of two annual stops at
Jennerstown Speedway on Saturday evening, May 28.
The Hooters North series was born at
Jennerstown in 2001, and this months Naturally Fresh 250 will mark
the 12th appearance for the USAR group at the half-mile paved
Somerset County oval.
“The local fans have really taken to
the Hooters ProCup series,” said General Manager Larry Mattingly.
“From the very first race the ProCup competitors have provided the
fans with what they want to see… good, hard racing, ‘hot’ pit stop
action, and a ‘take no prisoner’ attitude on the track.
“The Hooters group isn’t afraid to
trade a little paint if that’s what it takes to gain a position.
USAR car counts have increased dramatically this year, which is a
good indicator that the interest in the series is also increasing.”
Another factor why the series has
become so popular in the Western PA region is due to the fact that
no less than eight Hooters ProCup North drivers have past ties to
Jennerstown.

DuBois native Benny
Gordon is the defending North series champion, and
is currently second in this years point chase behind rookie
A.J. Frank. “Jennerstown is our home track,” said Gordon.
“We won here in 2003, but didn’t do as well as we wanted
last year. One of our primary goals this season is to win
both Jennerstown races.” |

Tim Bainey Jr. is
ninth in the championship chase coming into the Jennerstown
fray. The Osceola Mills driver is still a regular super late
