CHAMPENO ENDS SLUMP WITH STRONG RUN

Wade Champeno’s season took a turn for the better on Saturday, July 23rd, as the young late model driver nearly won his first race of 2005 on ‘Race of Champions’ night.

After starting second in the feature, Wade battled side by side with pole sitter Dink Colarusso before taking the lead on lap three.  A late race caution flag set up a three-lap shootout.  On the restart, Rick Boyer pulled alongside the #77 Monte Carlo.  The two drivers battled side by side for the remaining laps.  Champeno held the lead on the final lap, but slipped into the high groove in turn three and was forced to settle for second place.

“I just drove into turn three too hard,” remarked the Imler, PA driver.  “I felt the rear of the car coming around so I had to back off to avoid wrecking.”

Champeno Racing sponsors include Tom Mauk Construction, Racerz Edge Motorsports, and Champeno Signs & Decals.  The team is currently searching for additional marketing partners.  Interested parties should contact Wade Champeno at 814.239.5165.  For more information on Wade Champeno Racing visit www.geocities.com/wadechampeno.
