RAIN CANCELS JENNERSTOWN
JENNERSTOWN, PA (July 16, 2005) … Violent afternoon
thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Saturday
evening’s five-division NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
racing program at Jennerstown Speedway.
The
rain also postponed the inaugural appearance of
Megasaurus, a thirty-one foot tall, car eating, fire
breathing mechanical dinosaur, that has been touted as
the ‘metal marvel of the millennium’.
“A lot
of kids and families were disappointed by the
cancellation of Megasaurus,” said speedway general
manager Larry Mattingly, “but we have been able
reschedule the show to be part of our big ‘Night of
Destruction’ on September 10th. Megasaurus
will be joining monster trucks, a jet car burn, a giant
demolition derby and other specialty acts.”
Next
Saturday evening the half-mile paved Somerset County
oval will play host to the Tom Clark Auto Family ‘Race
of Champions’ featuring NASCAR Nextel Cup stars Matt
Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Sterling Marlin and Ken Schrader.
The quartet will be racing in a pair of exhibition
contests, as well as participating in a pre-race
autograph session.
Spectator gates next week will open at 12:00 PM. Parking
lot gates will open at 9:00 AM
The
autograph session is tentatively slated for 5:30, with
racing set for 6:30 PM.
