Jennerstown
speed notes…..
… Blairsville’s Rick
Boyer, the 2004 Jennerstown Speedway late model division champion, has
indicated that he will be moving up to the Wheeler Bros. super late
model class in 2006. Boyer, who captured eight late model feature wins
in 2005, will have a 400 horsepower General Motors ‘crate engine’ under
the hood of his Bentley Development Monte Carlo. Jennerstown has made
‘crate’ engines legal in all three of its NASCAR divisions for the
upcoming season.
… Another driver
taking advantage of the ‘crate engine’ option is Jason Mignogna.
Mignogna finished 14th in the United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR)
Hooters ProCup North series last season, but the Greensburg pilot stated
that he will be splitting the 2006 season between USAR and Jennerstown.
“Our plans are to run a limited Hooters schedule next year, and be at
Jennerstown the rest of the time. We have two Howe cars left from our
Iceman Series days, and the inexpensive crate engines make it easy for
us to get back involved in local racing,” said Mignogna.
… Former pro truck
competitor Dave Morrow will step up to the super late model class in
2006, after setting out most of last season.
… Jennerstown 2002
pro truck champion Marion Reno will return to competition following a
one-year ‘retirement’. Reno will rejoin car owner Larry Germek to race
in the super late model division as a team mate to 2005 rookie of the
year, Chantal Germek.
… With the demise of
the PA legacy series, drivers Chris Brink and Lauren Butler have served
notice they will be racing in the Jennerstown late model class in 2006.
… Promising late model
rookie Danny Angelicchio will race in the super late model category this
year. The Hempfield Area High School senior has also registered a number
with the ASA late model series.
… Early super late
model registrants include: Clarion’s Todd Goble, Eugene Ciferno, who
will drive for Tom Bakus, Ohio’s Will Thomas, and defending 2005
champion Tommy Beck.
Osceola Mills driver
Tim Bainey Jr. will once again divide his time between the USAR Hooters
ProCup North series and Jennerstown. Bainey finished among the top-10 in
the final USAR North point chase, and will again have Greased Lightning
back his efforts. DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Tipton will sponsor
Bainey at Jennerstown.
… Jennerstown veteran
Jayme Beck has her sights set on competing in the 43rd annual
ARCA RE/MAX 200 this February at Daytona International Speedway. A
former PA legacy series champion, Beck turned laps in excess of 178
miles per hour on the famous 2 ½ mile tri-oval during a Dec16th
practice session, driving a car owned by ARCA and NASCAR driver Andy
Belmont. Beck, the wife of 2005 Jennerstown super late model champion
Tommy Beck, finished second in last seasons PA legacy point race, and
was ranked ninth in the super late model standings.
