JEnnerstown
schedules triple 30-lap super late model
features
JENNERSTOWN, PA
(Aug. 31, 2005) … Jennerstown Speedway will make
history this Saturday evening when it presents
triple 30-Lap feature events for the Wheeler
Bros.. super late models, as part of a big
five-division NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series race
program.
“It will mark the
first time we have ever held three separate
races on one night for any division,” said
speedway general manager Larry Mattingly, “it
should prove to be interesting. Several other
Pennsylvania tracks do similar programs, and the
now closed Reading Fairgrounds Speedway used to
have four 25-lap features. It was always a crowd
favorite. I think our fans are going to enjoy
the super late model triples as well.”
Aside from the
running three different features, the other big
story is the implication the night could have on
the current race for the track championship.
Tommy Beck currently leads runner-up Barry Awtey
by 35 points and third place Mark Poole by 50
markers. Between the three contests there is 150
total points up for grabs, so the standings
could see a significant shake-up.
“Realistically,
we’re cramming three nights of racing into one,”
Mattingly said. “The point battle could get
turned upside down, if someone runs into some
bad racing luck. I’m sure there will be some
strategy involved, and all three of the top
drivers will have back-up cars available to
them.”
Also on the slate
is a 30 lap feature for the PA legacy class. The
2005 point race will end for these drivers on
Sat., due to the fact that a 50-lap National
Allison Series legacy championship race is
scheduled for the final night of competition on
Sept. 17.
PJ Ehrlich, who has
dominated the legacy class all season,
registering seven feature wins, currently holds
a slight 12-point margin over former track
champion Jayme Beck. Chris Brink rides in third
place, just 16-points out of first place.
In addition to the
racing activity, an on-track autograph session
will be held from 5:30 to 6:30. Spectators will
be permitted on the race track to meet their
favorite drivers.
Spectator gates
will open at 5:00 PM, with the first race set to
begin at 6:45.
