Rain cancels
racing at jennerstown speedway
JENNERSTOWN SPEEDWAY
(Aug. 27, 2005) … Steady morning rain showers and the forecast of
probable evening thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the Sat. night
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program at Jennerstown Speedway.
“Because of the all
night and morning rains, along with the prediction of evening
thunderstorms we felt it was in the best interest of both our fans and
competitors to cancel the racing program early,” said speedway general
manager Larry Mattingly. “It was going to be very difficult to get the
track surface dried off to race.
“We also had several
special events for kids scheduled for our Christmas in August Fan
Appreciation Night activities, and we didn’t want families to have to
sit through possible delays in the program,” he said.
Next Saturday the
half-mile paved Somerset County oval will present a ‘Triple Header’
program for the Wheeler Bros. super late model division, featuring
triple 30-lap feature contests.
Spectator gates will
open at 5:00, with racing set to begin at 6:30 PM.
