May 15, 2004
(Jennerstown, PA) Mother
Nature was the big winner Saturday night at the Jennerstown
Speedway. The season opening event was already delayed a
couple of weeks due to the repaving of the track. Persistent
showers dampened the spirits of the many drivers and fans in
attendance and forced the cancellation of the night’s racing
program. Track officials worked hard to dry the new asphalt
surface after the first round of rain and thunder had come
and gone. But a second round of steady showers during the
evening would in turn force the cancellation.
Next Saturday, May 22 a
regular six-division program is on the card as the Laurel
Highlands Oval will attempt to get the 2004 season underway
in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. On the card will be the
Super Late Models, Late Models, Street Stocks, Chargers,
Hobby Stocks, and the Pennsylvania Legacy Series. Pit gates
will open at 2:30 with spectator gates at 4:30. Racing
starts at 6:00. In two weeks the USAR Hooters Procup Series
will be on hand for the Lucas Oil 250 with the Allison
National Legacy Series also on hand for a 50-lap feature
event. For more information contact the speedway office at
