LONGS, SC -
As the Hooters ProCup Series gets ready
to crown its 2004 champion in November
with three more races on the schedule,
United Speed Alliance Racing Director of
Operations Tony Cox has released the
2005 schedule for the competitors,
sponsors and fans of the touring series.
For the fifth consecutive season the
Hooters ProCup Series will feature a
30-race schedule with the two divisions
and Championship Series format. The
schedule will visit 10 states and 21
tracks over the course of the season
with seven tracks hosting multiple
events in 2005.
South Boston Speedway, Peach State
Speedway, Jennerstown Speedway, Myrtle
Beach Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, and
Mansfield Motorsports Speedway will all
host two races while USA International
Speedway will host four events next
year.
USA International Speedway will kick off
the season on Saturday, February 26 with
a Southern Division event while the
Northern Division competitors will begin
action at South Boston Speedway on
Saturday, April 9. Two new tracks have
been added to the schedule with South
Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA
hosting a Southern Division race on
March 12 and Madison International
Speedway in Madison, WI hosting a
Northern Division race on Friday,
September 9.
``We are very happy with our 2005
schedule,’’ said Cox. ``Over the years
we have been able to establish a great
relationship with many of our host
facilities that want to continue to
bring our brand of great short track
racing to its fans. While we have
renewed agreements with over 95 percent
of our tracks from last year, we are
very excited to have South Georgia and
Madison added to our schedule. We look
forward to another great season.’’
The Hooters ProCup Series recognized its
first champion in 1997 and has ran over
185 races and paid out over $17 million
in posted purse and post season awards
in just eight short years. Next year
over 100 competitors are expected to
challenge for over $3 million in posted
awards.
