Jennerstown, PA – Tim Sites picked
up his first asphalt victory during
the 25 lap Winged Sprints on Asphalt
feature Saturday night at
Jennerstown Speedway.
“I
knew I had to keep my nose clean if
I messed up at all there were 2 or
3
other guys that would be right
there,” said Sites in victory lane.
“This is really great to come off of
dirt and win in my fourth asphalt
race.”
Sites, a former 360 dirt sprint car
driver, quickly took the initial
lead over front row starters Jimmy
Judd and Jeff Gibson. Within several
laps, Sites and second place Jimmy
Taylor had a sizeable lead over the
rest of the field. By lap eight,
Sites had come up on lap traffic,
which allowed him to pull away from
Taylor. Danny Brown put on an
exciting race for the fans by using
the highside to move up from his
seventh place starting position.
Brown and Jonathan Kettlewell put on
an exciting race for fourth place
for several laps with Brown coming
out on top. After getting around
Kettlewell, Brown quickly caught up
with Taylor, but ran out of laps
before he could pose a serious
threat for second.
Finishing fourth behind Brown was
Kettlewell, with Wayne Buckingham
earning his first top five of the
season.
Terry Gibson was the quick qualifier
with a time of 16.69 seconds. Danny
Brown took the checkers in the dash
and first heat race with Sites
picking up the second heat.
The
next race for the WSoA is Saturday
July 17th at Columbus Motor
Speedway.
