COLARUSSO WINS THIRD
STRAIGHT - BROWN VISITS VICTORY LANE AT JENNERSTOWN
SPEEDWAY
(Jennerstown, PA) For the second straight week, Mother
Nature forced Jennerstown Speedway to postpone the
racing of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series to Sunday. And,
once again, the racing was fantastic!
In the
Rolling Rock Late Model feature, two-time Track Champion
Neil Brown started on the pole, led every lap and ran a
solid 50 laps straight to victory lane winning the
feature. Barry Awtey mounted a late race assault getting
to within three car lengths of Brown, but the Silver
Bullet was simply too fast. Brown and Awtey were
followed by Bobby Henry, Garry Willtrout and Mark
Cottone in the top five finishers.
The
Tommy Gale/Haulmark Trailers Pro Trucks ran double
features on Sunday. The first feature was a make-up race
for the rained out May 15th event. Todd Price
led every lap and took home his second win of 2003. He
was followed by Jason Lasky, Josh Coughenour, Marion
Reno, Jr. and Curtis Stewart in the top five.
In the
second Pro Truck feature, it was Marion Reno, Jr.’s turn
to dominate a race taking off from the drop of the green
to the drop of the checkered winning his first 2003
feature at Jennerstown Speedway. Reno was followed by
Josh Coughenour, Adam Kostelnik, Dave Manns and Todd
Price in the top five. Todd Price was the heat race
winner.
In the
Jennerstown Speedway Modifieds, Paul Urso took the lead
on lap six and survived numerous assaults from the field
to win his first feature of 2003 at Jennerstown. Urso,
Mike Bakalon, Jason Busch, Matt Smith and Bernard
McQuillan round out the top five drivers crossing the
finish line. Mike Bakalon was the heat race winner.
Dink
Colarusso stole the lead from Roger Onstead on lap five
and then stole the rest of the feature as he went on to
win his third consecutive Street Stock feature at the
Laurel Highlands Oval. Colarusso was followed by Onstead,
Bolly Mostoller, Jason Holder and June Weyant in the top
five. Colarusso was also the heat race winner.
Chantal Germek held the lead for 24 of the 25 laps of
the Jennerstown Speedway Chargers, but Phill Grubbs came
up and took the lead on the last lap snatching the
victory from Germek. In his first Charger feature win of
2003 at Jennerstown Speedway, Grubbs was followed by
Germek, Mike Stevens, Greg Praysner and Duane Noel in
the top five. Mike Stevens won the heat race.
In the
PA Legacy Series feature, P.J. Erlich got by Rick Boyer
at the race’s mid way point and held him off for the
remainder of the race to win his second feature of 2003.
Erlich and Boyer were followed by Brett Boyer, Jayme
Bolkovac and Chris Brink in the top five finishers. The
heat race winners were Dave Campbell and Rick Boyer.
In the
Mens Enduro feature, “Bad” Brad McCoy lead every lap on
his way to victory lane. He was followed by Patrick
Parlock, Gregory Lohr, Cory Snoeberger and Larry Miller
in the top five.
