DOMINATES TOMMY GALE MEMORIAL 64 – COLARUSSO WINS FIFTH
IN SIX RACES AT JENNERSTOWN SPEEDWAY
(Jennerstown, PA) While the skies were threatening,
Jennerstown Speedway was once again able to present
their NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing line-up under
the lights on Saturday Night.
The
Tommy Gale Memorial 64, a 64 lap feature race of the
Tommy Gale/Haulmark Trailers Pro Trucks, was absolutely
dominated by Alum Bank’s Todd Price. Price started on
the pole, led every lap and won the feature by nearly
the length of a straightaway. 2002 Tommy Gale Memorial
64 champ Marion Reno, Jr. was passed by both Jason Lasky
and Adam Kostelnik on lap 44 of the feature and crossed
the finish line in fourth. The fifth place position went
to Todd Corson since Jake Hounshell failed the post race
inspection and was moved to last place.
In the
Rolling Rock Late Model feature, Bobby Henry led for the
first eight laps. But Barry Awtey’s car was simply too
strong and he took the lead from Henry and went on to
dominate the fifty lap feature. Awtey was followed by
Neil Brown, Tommy Beck, Mark Cottone and Jayme Bolkovac
in the top five. Heat race wins went to Awtey and
Brown.
In the
Jennerstown Speedway Modifieds, Irwin, PA’s Bob Bentz,
Jr. took the lead three laps into the race, held off
numerous assaults from Mike Bakalon and went on to win
his third feature win of 2003 at the Laurel Highlands
Oval. Bentz and Bakalon were followed by Paul Urso, Matt
Smith and Jason Busch in the top five. Bentz was also
the heat race winner.
The
Street Stock feature at Jennerstown read like a broken
record with Dink Colarusso once again getting in front
of the field early in the race and leading the pack
across the finish line for the win. This was Colarusso’s
fifth win in six feature races in the Jennerstown
Speedway Street Stocks. Roger Onstead, June Weyant,
Billy Mostoller and Jason Holder round out the top five.
Colarusso was also the heat race winner.
In the
Jennerstown Speedway Charger feature, Greg Prasyner got
out in front at the drop of the green. Despite her best
efforts, Chantal Germek simply could not get in a
position to pass Praysner as he went on to win his
second feature of 2003 at Jennerstown. Praysner and
Germek were followed by Phill Grubbs, Duane Noel, and
Mike Stevens in the top five. Chantal Germek was the
heat race winner.
In the
PA Legacy Series feature, Rick Boyer took off with an
early lead and never looked back as he led all 25 laps
of the feature and visited victory lane for the first
time in 2003 at Jennerstown. Rick was followed by his
brother Brett Boyer, Kyle Martel, David Holder and Jayme
Bolkovac in the top five finishers. P.J. Erlich and Rick
Boyer were the winners of the heat races.
Jennerstown Speedway also welcomed two Super Mini Cup
exhibition races.
In the
Super Mini Cup Trucks, Mike Hawkins was in victory lane.
He was followed by Aubery Hawkins, Amanda McDermott and
Danielle McDermott. In the Super Mini Cup Cars, Kevin
Moore held off a charging Mike Walker to take home the
trophy. Moore and Walker were followed by Matt Wallace,
Frankie White and Blair Frye in the top five.
