MITCHELL GEARS UP FOR JENNERSTOWN AC DELCO 100

BRUCETON MILLS, WV (Jun. 14) ........  West Virginia driver Richard Mitchell
will be looking for his second victory of the season at the Jennerstown (PA)
Speedway when he takes on the challenging half mile paved oval next Saturday
(Jun. 21) in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series sanctioned AC Delco late
model 100.

A two-time NASCAR Northeast regional champion, Mitchell captured the 75-lap
contest at the Laurel Highlands complex last month, and the West Virginia
University mechanical engineering graduate would like nothing better than to put
his Howard Concrete Pumping Chevrolet Monte Carlo back in victory lane.

"We had a pretty good run in the 75 lapper last month; we got out front
quickly and maintained the lead for the entire race," Mitchell said, "our car
worked well for the first 30-laps, then started to go away a bit.  We're still
playing with the setup.  We won the 100 lap race at Motordrome (Speedway) a couple
of weeks ago, so I feel we are getting it closer to where we need to be."

Mitchell rates the tricky Jennerstown track as being as big, if not more of a
challenge, than his fellow late model division competitors.  "Racing at
Jennerstown is a real challenge," said Mitchell, "it is a big half mile, with long
sweeping corners.  The track taxes both the car and driver.  Chassis setup is
critical..... you need to be right on the money to be competitive there."

Mitchell, who successfully competed in the NASCAR BUSCH and ARCA RE/MAX
series' tours the past two seasons, also feels that the Jennerstown oval is the
perfect training ground for those drivers looking to make the move to various
touring series'.  "Racing at Jennerstown teaches you a great deal about
setting-up the car, because the track changes a great deal," Mitchell concluded, "that
is something you need to master when you race different tracks every week.
>From a driving perspective the faster racing you experience is beneficial when
you move up the ladder."
