MITCHELL SHOOTS FOR HAT TRICK AT MOTORDROME

BRUCETON MILLS, WV (July 25) ...... West Virginia driver Richard Mitchell
will be shooting for the "hat trick" this Friday evening at Motordrome (PA)
Speedway when he attempts to score his third extra-distance win of the season in
the NAPA Auto Parts 200.

The two-time NASCAR Northeast region champion has already driven his Howard
Concrete Pumping Chevrolet Monte Carlo to victories in the 100 and 150 lap
races held at the Smithton oval this season.  Mitchell would like nothing better
than to sweep all three of Motordrome's triple crown events; a feat that has
thus far eluded him.

"Our team has always been able to win two of the races each year," said
Mitchell, "but something always happens to prevent us from winning all three.
Winning all of them in one year has always been one of my goals."

The West Virginia University graduate's most recent try for the triple came
in 2001.  After sweeping the checkered flag in the 100 and 150 lappers,
Mitchell was sidelined just past the halfway point when the rear end of his car began
leaking fluid.

"I hated losing that one," Mitchell lamented, " I was setting the leader up
for a pass when we were black flagged and sent to the pits."

After competing in the NASCAR BUSCH and ARCA RE/MAX Series' last year,
Mitchell has returned to try for a fourth 200-lap crown.  But, according to the
former 1999/2000 Motordrome track champion, that will not be an easy task to
accomplish.

"I had a perfect car for the 100 lapper," added Mitchell, "but we missed the
setup for the 150.  Our car was really tight in the middle of the corners and
we couldn't match Gary Wiltrout's pace.  We got lucky he had to drop out with
mechanical problems.  That was one time it was better to be lucky than good!"

Mitchell is hoping that he won't need any luck this time around.  "I think we
have a handle on things for the 200," Mitchell concluded, "our strategy will
be the same. We'll try to stay close early, and then make a run at the crate
-engine cars late in the race."
