HOLLERN & SONS DODGE LATE MODEL 150 SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY NIGHT
DON'T MISS THE THUNDER ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!!

Jennerstown, Pa - Tuesday, July 22, 2003 5:00 p.m. - Jennerstown Speedway is proud to announce a new sponsor coming on board to give you some great Late Model action this Saturday night July 26th. Hollern & Sons Dodge will be the title sponsor of the Hollern & Sons Dodge Late Model 150 featuring the Rolling Rock Late Models.

Don't miss the action as two-time NASCAR Northeast regional champion Richard Mitchell returns to the mountain to test his skills against former track champion Barry Awtey, and current track points leader and NASCAR Northeast regional leader Neil Brown.

West Virginia driver Richard Mitchell will be looking to extend his NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series late model extra-distance winning streak at the Jennerstown (PA) Speedway, when he takes the green flag this Sat. evening in the Hollern & Sons Dodge Late Model 150 featuring the Rolling Rock Late Models. The two-time NASCAR Northeast region champion has been on a tear at the Laurel Highlands asphalt oval, driving his Howard Concrete Pumping Chevrolet Monte Carlo to victories in previous 75 and 100-lap contests. And, if that wasn't enough Mitchell has also accounted for 100 and 150-lap wins at the Motordrome (PA) Speedway already this season. The former 1999 Jennerstown track champion has a history of being successful in long distance events. Three years ago Mitchell won every long-distance race contested there. Additionally the former NASCAR BUSCH and ARCA RE/MAX Series' competitor has a wealth of experience competing on super speedways where patience and tire management are critical elements in winning races. "I have never really considered myself to be a long distance specialist," Mitchell said, "but experience has taught me that you need to be around at the end to put yourself in a position to win. There are times where we aren't the fastest car at the beginning of race, but we end up being the fastest car at the checkered flag when it counts. Getting the car to run consistent lap speeds and conserving the tires are probably two of the key elements to our success. A lot of drivers run fast for the first 50-laps or so, but then slow-up when the tires start to wear. That is when the chassis setup becomes critical." The tricky Jennerstown track surface makes long distance races even more problematic according to Mitchell. "It is very difficult to dial-in a car at Jennerstown." Mitchell added, "the track changes from night to night, and in some cases, even during the course of a single evening. You can have a great car during the qualifying heat, and it will turn to junk in the feature. You need to stay on top of a lot of factors in adjusting a car for Jennerstown........and having a little luck doesn't hurt!"

We have an action packed schedule this Saturday night including the 25 lap Tommy/Gale Haulmark Pro-Truck feature, 25 lap Jennerstown Speedway Modifieds, 25 lap Street Stocks, 15 lap Chargers and Mens Enduros.
