MITCHELL WINS BIG AT JENNERSTOWN AND MOTORDROME

BRUCETON MILLS, WV (July13) ........... West Virginia driver Richard Mitchell
stretched his NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series extra-distance race winning streak
to four, by scoring major victories over the weekend at the Jennerstown and
Motordrome (PA) Speedways behind the wheel of his HowardConcrete Pumping
Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Mitchell, a two-time NASCAR Northeast region champion, needed a little help
from Lady Luck to nail down his fourth Tom Clark Auto Family 'Firecracker 150
win at Motordrome Friday evening.

The West Virginia University mechanical engineering graduate started 12th in
the field, and moved into second behind leader Gary Wiltrout on lap 43.
Mitchell chased the defending Motordrome champion to no avail until receiving a
break on lap 116 when officials stopped the race to sweep debris from the track.
On he restart, Wiltrout's car failed to fire, permitting Mitchell to cruise
to the checker over a fast closing Rick Miller.

"Gary (Wiltrout) had us all covered, it was his race if he didn't break,"
Mitchell said, "our car was tight all night, and we were struggling through the
corners..  The 25-car (Rick Miller) had fresh tires on at the end of the race,
so I knew he was coming fast.  Both Wiltrout and Miller had fuel injected
motors, so we're pretty happy with the win."

The following night at Jennerstown Speedway Mitchell fought an evil-handling
race car and a persistent Barry Awtey to capture the 100-lap Wheeler Bros. AC
Delco main event.

Mitchell, who competed on the NASCAR BUSCH Series tour last season, swapped
the lead twice with Awtey before taking over for good on the 49th circuit.

"We were on the outside of Barry (Awtey) on the lap 49 restart and we went
for broke getting into the first corner," commented Mitchell, " I knew whomever
got the lead was going to win the race."

"Our car was terrible all night... it didn't want to run anywhere on the race
track." Mitchell added, "Jennerstown is a mystery as far as car set-up goes
..... the track is different every race.  We were bad, but the good news was
that we were better than everyone else."

In the regularly scheduled 50-lap feature at Jennerstown, Mitchell finished
behind Neil Brown, Barry Awtey and Bobby Henry after starting 10th in the
line-up.

Mitchell will next be in action on July 26 in the tentatively-scheduled
150-lap event at Jennerstown , and then again the following week in the NAPA Auto
Parts 200 at Motordrome on Aug.1.

Mitchell is also scheduled to be a guest on WEDO (810 AM) radio's Rappin' on
Racin' motorsports show on Wed. July 23 at 8:00 P.M.  On Tues. July 30,
Mitchell will do a taped segment for the new "We're Going Racing" television show
before a live audience at the Rhythm House Cafe' in Bridgeville, PA.  The show
will air Sunday morning Aug. 3 at 9:30 A.M. on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh.
