DENNEWITZ TAKES SEASON BEST THIRD
AT HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Hickory, NC (6-29-03)
2002 PA Legacy Series Champion Joey
Dennewitz drove his Owens Corning Allison Legacy car to a strong third
place run at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC on June 28th,
bringing him to his first podium finish in the 2003 Allison Legacy
National Touring Series.
Dennewitz, who had been stuck on
finishing fifth for five of the first six races this season was excited to
bring home a top three for his Akron, OH based Eagle Motorsports team. “We
had an awesome car tonight. Our finishes in this tough southern series
haven’t been giving us enough credit for how hard we are working. This
isn’t my favorite track, but we definitely adapted and overcame this
weekend to give Owens Corning and Eagle Motorsports an awesome run. We
will see what we can do in South Boston on Wednesday.”
With the third place finish on
Saturday, Dennewitz extends his points lead over Dennis Archinal by a
solid 50 points for third place in the chase for the Allison Legacy Series
National Touring Series points standings. Only 75 points behind points
leader Derek Lee and only half way though the Allison Legacy National
Touring Series schedule, Dennewitz is optimistic on his chances to keep
moving up through the points ladder. “We keep posting those top fives and
our team has always ran with a big picture philosophy. We have been good
in the consistency department, and that is what wins championships.
Anything can happen with 8 races to go”
