MITCHELL
RUMBLES AT RICHMOND
Richmond, VA (Sept. 6) ... West Virginia driver Richard
Mitchell turned in
his carreer-best NASCAR BUSCH Series performance by driving his
Coach
USA/Mountaineer Gaming/West Virginia Wild and Wonderful
Chevrolet Monte Carlo
to a 23rd place finish Friday evening in the FUNAI 250 at
Richmond
International Raceway.
"We finished where we qualified - 23rd," Mitchell said. "Our
goal coming
down here was to qualify and run in the top 25. We accomplished
that. This
team needed to finish a BUSCH race and I feel we now have our
program headed
in the right direction."
"We missed on the race setup," commented the West Virginia
University
graduate. "The car was tight right from the start and I
couldn't get into
the corners the way you need to at Richmond. We tried a couple
of things but
we couldn't get it loosened up enough to run with the fast
guys.:"
Mitchell was also high in his praise of his support he received
from his home
state. "It sounded like half of West Virginia was here during
driver
introductions," Mitchell added, "and Governor Bob Wise was in
our pit box
during the race, lending support. Our team appreciates the
backing coming
from the West Virginia Department of Tourism. It means a lot to
know that
the folks back home are behind our effort to put a West Virginia
team in
NASCAR."
Mitchell's next stop on the BUSCH tour will come in the MBNA
America 200 at
Dover international Speedway on September 21.
