SERIES PRESENTED BY DODGE
DAYTONA
BEACH, Fla. (September 26, 2002)
- Neil Brown, of Acme, Pa., captured his second consecutive Late
Model track championship at Jennerstown (Pa.) Speedway and has
been invited to represent the Speedway at the prestigious NASCAR
Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge awards banquet, Nov. 2
in Nashville. Brown, who recorded six wins and 15 top-five
finishes overall, finished second in the series’ Northeast
Region standings and will collect more than $20,000 in
post-season awards.
The NASCAR Weekly
Racing Series presented by Dodge is NASCAR’s national
championship program for weekly short track competitors. Eighty
participating tracks nationwide are divided into eight
geographic regions and a regional championship is decided in
each. Regional championships are determined by the Competition
Performance Index (CPI), a statistical formula that ranks each
driver based on several competitive factors. The eight regional
champions are then compared against each other to determine the
national champion.
Buck Catalano,
of Ontario, N.Y., won this season’s Northeast Region
championship competing at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y.
Peter Daniels, of Lebanon, N.H., won the New England Region and
national championship after posting 14 victories in Claremont (N.H.)
Speedway’s NASCAR Modified division. |
