RICHARD MITCHELL Richmond Notes & Quotes

"I'm looking forward to racing at Richmond.  I have raced on nothing but
intermediate ovals and superspeedways this year, so it will feel good to get
back on a short track again."

BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RACING ON A SUPERSPEEDWAY VERSUS A SHORT TRACK:
"Although Richmond is sort of a mini-intermediate track, you can still do some
rubbin' and bangin', because the cars will be running so close together.
Aerodynamics aren't as important as brakes on a short track....normally the
winning car at Richmond will have some body damage!"

KEY TO SUCCESS AT RICHMOND:
"I've never turned a lap in a race at Richmond, but from what I can see, the
ability to keep the car on the bottom will be critical.  The new track sealer
took away the upper groove in the spring race.  The track seemed to be better
when I tested last week, so we'll have to see what happens is time around."

•   Mitchell finished 34th and 35th in his first two BUSCH starts at
Nashville Superspeedway, but failed to qualify at Chicagoland (38th) and
Michigan (39th).

•   In four 2002 ARCA RE/MAX Series races Mitchell has recorded three top-10
runs  (Daytona-seventh / Lowe's-fifth / Michigan-third).  While leading the
July Pocono race Mitchell crashed after cutting-down a rear tire, relegating
him to 27th in the final run down.
