MITCHELL STARTS
16th AT TALLADEGA
TALLADEGA, AL (Oct. 3) ........West Virginia driver Richard
Mitchell will
start from outside the eighth row in Saturday afternoon's Food
World 300 ARCA
RE/MAX Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
The two-time NASCAR Northeast Region Weekly Racing series
champion drove his
Coach USA / Mountaineer Gaming / West Virginia "Wild and
Wonderful" Pontiac
Grand Prix around the 2.66 mile Talladega tri-oval in a time of
53.007
(180.655 mph).
"I told the guys on the crew that we would qualify 15th down
here
(Talladega)," laughed Mitchell, "I missed my prediction by one
spot!" "We
knew we wouldn't be in the top-10 in qualifying, because the
Pontiac body on
this car just pushes too much air when it is running by itself,"
Mitchell
continued, "we got as much out of it as we could."
Mitchell feels the actual race on Saturday will be another
story, however.
"I think we have a great shot in the race..... the car works
very well in the
draft, and I can put it anywhere on the track," added the West
Virginia
University graduate. "We have a good race package. Our plan is
to draft our
way to the front, and see what happens."
The Talladega Food World 300 will be telecast on a same day
tape-delay basis
on the SPEED CHANNEL cable network from 8-11:00 PM (ET).
