CHICAGOLAND NEXT FOR MITCHELL
WAYNESBURG, PA (July 5) ......... Bruceton Mills, West
Virginia driver
Richard Mitchell is hoping that a brand new race car and the
familiar
confines of the Chicagoland Speedway will bring a change of
fortune when he
attempts his third NASCAR BUSCH Series outing in the Tropicana
Twister 300 on
Sat. July 13.
Coming off a career-best third place finish in the recent ARCA
RE/MAX series
event at Michigan Int. Speedway, Mitchell is looking forward
to returning to
the BUSCH Series with his Coach USA / Mountaineer Gaming /
West Virginia
Tourism Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
"Our first two BUSCH starts at Nashville (Superspeedway) were
a disaster,"
Mitchell said, "we had electrical problems in the first race,
and we crashed
in the June race after the rear track-bar worked loose. We're
a much better
team than that, and I hope we can prove it at Chicago."
There is plenty of reason for optimism going into the Chicago
race. The West
Virginia University graduate qualified fifth fastest and ran
among the
leaders all day in last falls ARCA race at the uniquely
designed D-shaped 1.5
mile oval.
"The Chicagoland track is deceivingly fast," Mitchell stated,
" the slightly
curved back straight allows you to attain amazing speeds. I
really liked the
track last year, and I'm looking forward to returning for the
BUSCH Series
race."
Mitchell, a two-time NASCAR Northeast Region Weekly Racing
Series champion,
also is focused on debuting a new car in the Tropicana Twister
event.
"We'll be running a new Hutcherson-built chassis in the race,"
added
Mitchell, "the car has never turned a wheel, so I don't know
what to expect.
I do know we're going to have to have our act together,
because the Chicago
race is expected to draw one of the largest fields of the
year."
The Tropicana Twister 300 will be telecast live at 4:30 PM
(EDT) on the NBC
network. The race will also be broadcast on the MRN radio
network.
