MITCHELL LEAVES MAC HILL MOTORSPORTS
BRUCETON MILLS, WV (Dec. 6, 2002) ........ West Virginia driver
Richard
Mitchell announced that he is leaving the Jack McNelly-owned Mac
Hill
Motorsports race team.
Over the 2001/2002 seasons Mitchell campaigned Mac Hill cars on
both the ARCA
RE/MAX and NASCAR BUSCH Series tours.
"I will always be grateful to Jack (McNelly) for giving me an
opportunity to
run the superspeedways," Mitchell said, "unfortunately the
current economics
involved in securing NASCAR sponsorship these days transposes
friendship.
>From a business perspective, Jack and I found it necessary to
go in different
directions."
Mitchell, a two-time NASCAR Northeast region Weekly Racing
Series champion,
is currently pursuing other BUSCH Series opportunities and hopes
to make an
announcement concerning his future by the end of the month.
"We are talking with several different people, and feel we are
close to
putting a deal together, but that's all I can say at this time,"
Mitchell
added.
The West Virginia University mechanical engineering graduate
drove the Coach
USA / Mountaineer Gaming / West Virginia Tourism sponsored Mac
Hill entries
to nine top-10 ARCA finishes over the past two seasons.
Additionally,
Mitchell qualified for four NASCAR BUSCH events this year.
