The PA Legacy Series, sponsored by Cover Insurance Agency, was at Jennerstown Speedway on Saturday, September 7, 2002.  Cover Insurance Agency was not only our divisional sponsor but was the sponsor for the night of racing.  Two 25-lap segment races were scheduled for the night’s events for the PA Legacy Series.  Joey Dennewitz of Akron, OH won the heat race.
 
In the first 25-lap segment, Brett Boyer jumped into the early lead.  PJ Ehrlich passed Brett Boyer on lap 5 with Joey Dennewitz moving into second.  A caution was thrown when Dennewitz made contact with the rear bumper of Ehrlich’s car.  Ehrlich’s car was towed into the pit area and Dennewitz was sent to the rear of the field along with the cars of Brett Boyer and Rick Boyer, both getting caught up in the spin.  On the restart, Chris Brink and Kyle Martel were battling side by side for a lap or two until Chris Brink took over the lead.  A late race charge of Dennewitz put him into the lead on lap 24 and winning the first segment.
 
In the second 25-lap segment, once again it was Chris Brink and Kyle Martel battling side by side for the first few laps with Dennewitz moving into the lead on lap 3.  A battle for second with Rick Boyer and Chris Brink continued for the first half of the race.  After halfway, Brett Boyer moved into 3rd and was knocking on the back bumper of his brother, Rick.  At the checkered flag, it was Dennewitz for the win followed by Rick Boyer, Brett Boyer, PJ Ehrlich and Chris Brink.
 
The next and final event for the PA Legacy Series will be held next Saturday night at Jennerstown Speedway.  A full field of cars is expected to be on hand when Jennerstown Speedway will mark the one-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America with the Inaugural Flight 93 Memorial, “A Celebration of Heroes” race weekend.  Events will include the presentation of the World’s Largest American Flag.
