The PA Legacy Series sponsored by
Cover Insurance, finally got the first race of the 2002 race
season in the books. With very chilly temperatures, Jennerstown
Speedway decreased the number of laps in the feature event to 20
and only ran 1 heat race. Heat race winner was Joey Dennewitz
of
Akron,
OH.
The feature event was slowed 3
times with single car spins: lap 2 by Michael Vasquez of
Newburgh,
NY,
on lap 12 by Brett Boyer of
Rural
Valley,
and on lap 14 by Kyle Martel of
Lebanon,
PA
while leading the race. Michael Vasquez was the only competitor
who didn’t continue on after the spin.
Racing was competitive both for the
lead by Joey Dennewitz and Kyle Martel and in the middle of the
field by Brett Boyer and Chris Brink.
At the checkered flag, Joey
Dennewitz was followed by Chris Brink, Kyle Martel, Brett Boyer
and Art McElhinney.
The next races of the PA Legacy
Series will be at Motordrome Speedway on
Friday, May 10, 2002
and at Jennerstown Speedway on Saturday, May 11,
2002.
