Fayetteville, GA (October 23, 2001) – Speedvision and the United Speed
Alliance Racing Hooters ProCup Series have reached an exclusive
agreement to continue national broadcasting of the popular and
ever-growing short track racing series.
The renewed agreement is for the 2002 and 2003 race seasons with an
option for a third year in 2004. Speedvision and USAR have enjoyed an
amicable relationship since the channel began broadcasting Hooters
ProCup Series events in 1999.
“We are extremely happy to renew our agreement with Speedvision,” said
USAR President Gene Cox. “The Hooters ProCup Series has enjoyed a strong
relationship with Speedvision since 1999 and both of us have enjoyed
tremendous growth since our partnership began.”
The agreement will allow a Primetime airing on Thursday nights for both
east and west coast viewers with a third airing scheduled on Friday. The
broadcasts will reach over 45 million households on the popular
motorsports channel.
Hooters Vice-President of Marketing Mike McNeil added the agreement is
not only good for the Hooters ProCup Series but also for the 300-plus
Hooters restaurants.
“Speedvision is an excellent vehicle to reach the race fans as well as
Hooters customers,” said McNeil. “Hooters realized since the days when
Alan Kulwicki piloted a Hooters sponsored car to the Winston Cup
championship that racing is an excellent vehicle to reach our customers.
Speedvision offers us an opportunity to reach the fans through race
broadcasts and other promotions.”
Speedvision was acquired by Fox Cable Networks Group in July 2001 and
will be moving its headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina by the end
of 2001. |
