Speedway Gears Up For the 2001 Season |
JENNERSTOWN, Pa. (March 5, 2001) - Jennerstown Speedway, LLC. is
ready to roll for the 2001 racing season. The season will
include several special events throughout the season.
The season starts April 7, 2001 with a Practice Day and Open
House Media Day, gates will open at 10:00 a.m., with practice
until 4:00 p.m. sharp. All members of the media are invited to
attend and enjoy food and drinks, sponsored by Jennerstown
Speedway, LLC. and the Hooters Pro Cup Series.
Jennerstown Speedway, LLC. is pleased to welcome the Hooters Pro
Cup Series to western Pennsylvania. The Hooters Pro Cup Series
will make three stops at the Laurel Highlands Oval, April 21,
July 14, and September 29. The race September 29, will be one of
the four Champions Races, which highlight the tour. All three
races will be televised on Speedvision, and produced by Halbrook
Productions. USAR President Gene Cox stated, "We are excited
about being at Jennerstown in the 2001 season, and we're looking
forward to many more seasons together. Steve Peles, his family
and his staff have made us feel very welcomed and we can't wait
to race at Jennerstown Speedway."
The American Speed Association will be making its traditional
stop at Jennerstown Speedway on August 25-26. The ASA event will
be 300 laps and will be televised live on TNN. Jennerstown
Speedway's General Manager, Steve Peles says, "We are proud to
be a part of the popular ASA Series. The Robbins' family and
their entire organization are a true class act. We are looking
forward to continuing our relationship with ASA for a long time
to come."
Jennerstown Speedway welcomes the return of the NASCAR Weekly
Racing Series, featuring the Wheeler Brothers / AC Delco Late
Models, Pro Trucks, Brown Timber and Land Street Stocks, and the
growing Charger division. The Cover Insurance Legacy Series will
return to Jennerstown Speedway, competing weekly. Jennerstown
Speedway will also host a three-race Super Mini Cup Series,
based out of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, by Stabley Motorsports.
The Wheeler Brothers / AC Delco Late Model division will include
seven special events. The driver clicking off the fastest
qualifying lap will receive a $1,000.00 Fast Time Award. This
Fast Time Award is sponsored by R & M Trucking and Jennerstown
Speedway, LLC. In addition to the Fast Time Award, the fans have
a chance to cash-in on these seven special events. The 2001
season will mark the second season for the Spectator 500. This
program is modeled after the NASCAR Winston Cup's No Bull 5. If
a lucky fan is paired up with the driver who wins that night, he
or she will win $500.00. "The Spectator 500 gives the fans a
chance to enjoy some winnings too, " Steve Peles stated. The
Spectator 500 will be held on April 21, May 26, July 4, July 14,
August 18, September 15 and September 29. There will be special
events for the Pro Trucks, Brown Timber and Land Street Stocks,
Chargers, and Cover Insurance Legacy Series throughout the
season also.
Jennerstown Speedway's General Manager, Steve Peles gave this
comment on the upcoming season, "We at Jennerstown Speedway want
every Saturday night to be a highlight in the season for both
our drivers and our fans. This year, our Fall Festival will be
bigger and better than last year. The Fall Festival will include
a 200-lap Wheeler Brothers / AC Delco Late Model event, a 50-lap
Pro Truck event, a 35-lap Brown Timber and Land Street Stock
event, a 20-lap Charger event, and Irwin RV Presenting the
nationally known Cover Insurance Blue / Gray Shoot Out for the
Allison Legacy Series. We're looking forward to this very
exciting day at Jennerstown Speedway."
