USAR Prepares
for 2001 Season |
January 9, 2001-Fayetteville, GA – Ready to roar and rumble here
they come to a track near you in 2001. In just 47 days the green
flag will fly and the 2001 season will begin for the United
Speed Alliance Racing Hooters ProCup Series at USA International
Speedway. The upcoming season will be the most exciting and
challenging yet for the five year-old series.
After enjoying another successful season - a season which gave
Bobby Gill the chance to rewrite the USAR record book on the way
to a second consecutive championship - the series will
experience a 50 percent increase in the number of races and
introduce six new states and Canada to USAR and its Hooters
ProCup Series.
Over 117 drivers collected points during last season and, as of
the second week of January, 95 drivers have already registered
for competition in 2001. USAR will also introduce a new format
to declare its national champion with the "Four Champions
Championship Series." This new format promises to bring an
exciting and challenging process for Hooters ProCup Series
drivers and their teams.
The 2001 season will introduce the first season USAR will pay
out over $1 million in points fund awards. The national champion
will once again collect a lion’s share of $250,000; however, the
top 50 finishers in the points standings will collect
post-season awards.
USAR will once again begin its season at USA International
Speedway and visit familiar tracks that have hosted Hooters
ProCup Series races.
Ten tracks from the 2000 schedule will once again host races. In
addition to USA International Speedway they are: Florida
Speedpark, Ace Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, New River
Valley, Peach State Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Concord
Motorsport Park, South Boston Speedway, Lonesome Pine Raceway
and Montgomery Motor Speedway.
The expanded schedule for 2001 will include 12 new tracks on the
schedule. Two of the new tracks will host Southern Division
events while the remaining 10 tracks will feature Northern
Division or FCCS events.
Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville, North Carolina and Five
Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida will host Hooters ProCup
events for the first time, while Jennerstown Speedway will lead
a group of first-class facilities to host events in the Northern
Division.
In addition to Jennerstown Speedway, Chicago Motor Speedway,
Indianapolis Raceway Park, Thompson International Speedway,
Chemung Speedrome, Louisville Motor Speedway, Holland Speedway,
Winchester Speedway, Illiana Speedway and Cayuga Speedway will
host events in 2001.

closely with these facilities to put together a short track
schedule that is one of the best if not the best in the nation.
Our goal is to be the premiere short track series in the nation
and we feel we are moving forward with that vision with our 2001
schedule."
The 2001 USAR Hooters ProCup Series will feature 30 races during
a 10-month schedule that will award over 3 million dollars in
purse and points fund awards. USAR would like to thank Hooters,

along with Jackaroo Sauces), Goodyear, Miller Beer, Lucas Oil
Products, Sunoco and A-Plus MiniMarts, and along with its family
