DAVID IFFT
JOINS RICHARD MITCHELL/ MAC HILL MOTORSPORTS |
WAYNESBURG, PA (Aug. 29) ... Multi-time NASCAR Champion Darrell
Waltrip
credits David Ifft with giving him his first Winston Cup
victory.
Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) RE/MAX driver Richard
Mitchell hopes
Ifft will produce similar results for him, as the veteran crew
chief has
agreed to join his Mac Hill Motorsports team as a consultant for
the
remainder of the 2001 season.
“I've been very satisfied with the results our team has produced
thus far,”
said Mac Hill team owner Jack McNelly. “We have developed into
a top-10 team
after running only five races. But, every member of our
organization is a
rookie at the superspeedway level. When David (Ifft) became
available, I
saw the opportunity to cut our learning curve in half. I feel
David's
experience will help us to get to the front much quicker.”
A native of Reading and a former Youngstown, Ohio resident, Ifft
brings 30
years of experience and 27 NASCAR Winston Cup victories to the
Mac Hill/Coach
USA/Mountaineer Gaming/Forest River Motorhomes team.
In addition to Waltrip, Ifft also has worked with David Pearson,
Cale
Yarborough, Benny Parsons, Buddy Baker, and the late Bobby
Isaac, among
others. Ifft’s most recent assignment was the Morgan-McClure
Kodak Winston
Cup team, where he guided the efforts of Bobby Hamilton, Robby
Gordon and
Kevin LePage.
“I am impressed by what Richard (Mitchell) and the Mac Hill crew
has
accomplished in a short period of time,” Ifft said. “My goal is
to get them
to the next level.”
Chris Mitchell will remain as the crew chief on the number 54
Pontiac Grand
Prix. Ifft will be in the pit box with the team beginning with
the ARCA race
at the new Chicagoland Speedway on September 1.
