Jennerstown, PA - Team Three Motorsports Inc. has chosen some special
ways to honor the memory of Piney Lasky, for his dedication and
determination to bring the highest level of stock car racing to
Jennerstown Speedway, and Western Pennsylvania.
First and foremost will be the continuation of the Piney Lasky Memorial
Race, which will be held this Saturday May 27, 2000 at the Laurel
Highlands Oval. While this race will feature the Lowe’s Late Model
division in 100 laps of fast paced excitement, each of the remaining
five regular racing divisions will also be in action, making this a very
special night of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Jennerstown
Speedway.
Many current stock car racing competitors and race fans owe a great debt
of gratitude to the man who had a vision. Years of hard work and
sacrifice by Piney, and the entire Lasky family, helped to transform
just another dirt track in the hills of Somerset County, into the
Jennerstown Speedway. Many longtime racers and fans fondly remember
Piney riding his ATV around the Speedway pit area, monitoring the nights
racing action, and meeting the race winners in victory lane. This is
where the famed "Wearing of the Cowboy Hat" ceremony began it’s longtime
tradition. Piney would take his cowboy hat and switch with whatever cap
the race winner might be wearing. This seemingly simple act of
friendship became a hallmark of Jennerstown Speedway victory lane
celebrations, and to this day carries with it a personal honor and
tribute that is prized by both local and touring division racers alike.
Team Three Motorsports Inc. has added another interesting twist to the
night’s festivities; this one will be directly related to the race fans
in attendance. The Piney Lasky Memorial Race Night will be the kick-off
to a fan promotion titled "Spectator $500.00"!
This special promotion will start by race spectators registering their
names for a drawing. On special race nights during the 2000 NASCAR
Weekly Racing Series, May 27th, June 17th, July 1st, August 19th, and
September 9th, five lucky race spectators will be chosen to participate.
These five spectators will be matched with one of the top five drivers
in points at the beginning of that evening. If one of these five drivers
wins the selected feature race, then their assigned spectator partner
will win $500.00! If none of the assigned drivers wins, then all of the
accumulated prize money will be carried over to the next "Spectator
$500.00" race night. Spectators may enter as many times as they like,
but they must be present on contest promotion race nights to be eligible
to win. All spectators will be chosen on the selected race nights,
before the national anthem.
With the chance to win over $500.00, and knowing that there will be
great racing excitement, can you afford to miss out! Adult general
admission for this special event will be $15.00, with all children 12
years and younger admitted for FREE!
