JENNERSTOWN, PA - Team Three Motorsports Inc. is pleased to announce the
continuation of what has become the most time honored traditional
asphalt race night in Western Pennsylvania. Saturday night May 27th,
2000 Jennerstown Speedway will once again explode on the stock car scene
with the running of the "Piney Lasky Memorial 100" for the Lowe’s Late
Model division. With the chance for the winner to take home over $3,000
dollars in purse money and bonus awards, every hot shoe Late Model
driver in the tri-state area will be in attendance at the Laurel
Highlands Oval. With the addition of five other divisions of feature
events, this is destined to be one of the most exciting nights of local
racing to be seen this year. One of the largest fringe benefits of
winning this race night is for the drivers to don the famous cowboy hat
of the late Piney Lasky; the man credited with bringing big time asphalt
racing to Western Pennsylvania.
The position payout for this prestigious race will be close to $9,000
dollars, with the race winner earning a minimum of $1,800 for finishing
first. With a possible $1,000 dollars in lap bonus money, for the driver
who leads each lap. The drivers will qualify for their starting
positions, with the fastest qualifier earning an additional $500
dollars. The starting positions for this years "Piney Lasky Memorial
100" feature race will be "Heads Up" with the starting order taken
directly from the qualifying speeds. Each driver, up to a maximum of 36
starters, will be guaranteed $200 for qualifying and starting the
feature event.
The Rigg's Industries Pro Truck division will also be highlighted with
the running of a 50-lap feature event, with race winnings totaling close
to $3,500 dollars. These race trucks have been the hottest division in
local racing, with entry fields doubling and tripling over the past
couple of seasons. The starting grid will be taken from time trials,
with the fastest qualifier receiving an additional $150 dollars, and up
to 30 race starters pocketing at least $140 dollars. This race payout
will be one of the largest offered to these teams, with the winner
earning a cool $700 dollars, and along with the notoriety of winning
such a special event, their numbers will also be at a maximum for this
night of racing.
If these two races were not enough, the PA Legacy Car division will host
its "Blue & Gray Shootout", featuring drivers from the local area, as
well as those from across the entire East Coast. These downsized
racecars with a tube framed chassis and Mazda powertrain can obtain race
speeds rivaling those of the Late Models, and with the addition of
touring division regulars, this will be one race you won’t want to miss.
Along with these three special racing events, the Wheeler
Brothers-AC/Delco Modified, Brown Timber and Land Street Stock, and
Charger divisions will also be in action, with the chance for each to be
a big part of this special night of racing action.
The action all takes place on Saturday, May 27th at Jennerstown
Speedway. Pit gates will open at 3PM, practice starts at 5PM. Main gates
open at 4PM, racing at 7PM. Call the Speedway office at (814) 629-6677.
