Opening night at
Jennerstown Speedway saw good weather, good crowd, and good racing
on the track. The PA Legacy Series, sponsored by Cover Insurance,
put on a good show with Mike Smith winning the feature event. Heat
race winners were Mike Smith and Brandon Taylor.
Jayme Bolkovac,
who is competing in both the Legacy Series and the Late Model
division, jumped out to an early lead in the feature event until the
caution flag was shown for an accident on the back stretch for a
spin by PJ Ehrlich that also involved Brandon Taylor and Glenn Gault,
Jr. When the green was shown once again, Mike Smith passed Jayme
Bolkovac and went on to lap the entire field except for 2nd
and 3rd place. At the crossed flags, signaling halfway,
Smith was followed by Rick Anderson, Jayme Bolkovac, and battling
for 4th was Ed Boyer and Dave Holder. Mike Smith held a
commanding lead and was followed to the line by Rick Anderson, Jayme
Bolkovac, Ed Boyer, and Art McElhinney.
Mike Smith is
currently holding 2nd place in the national points
standings for the Allison Legacy Series and will be traveling to
Nashville, TN this weekend to compete in a national event.
Next scheduled
event for the PA Legacy Series, sponsored by Cover Insurance, will
be next Saturday night, May 6, 2000, at Jennerstown Speedway. |
